Fear Street: Prom Queen (2025)

Fear Street: Prom Queen is a wildly fun return to the Fear Street franchise for fans and a solid enough standalone slasher for newcomers. Like its predecessors, the film thrives on its nostalgic premise, with its '80s horror slasher vibes and nods to R. L. Stine's signature brand of horror. The only thing missing in Fear Street: Prom Queen is some of the innovation and creativity of the originals. Still, Fear Street: Prom Queen is excellent for viewers seeking highly entertaining, bloody teen drama and slasher horror to watch during prom season.

What happens when you take horror favorites like Prom Night and Totally Killer and mix them with satirical high school comedies like Heathers and Mean Girls? You get Fear Street: Prom Queen. Inspired by the R. L. Stine novel, the film pokes fun at the catty, shallow world of high school…but then brings in a killer to slice and dice their way through the self-centered teens. If you’re like me and weren't part of the popular crowd in high school, Prom Queen is a really fun and oddly cathartic film that totally skewers (literally) everything wrong with the social hierarchy of school life.
