IT prequel series finds home at Max
Welcome to Derry is an horror television series produced by Warner Bros. Television for Max. Developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs, this TV show acts as a prequel to Muschietti's successful IT films which released in 2019, both based on Stephen King's acclaimed novel. The films follow a curse plaguing the town of Derry and the chilling clown behind it all named Pennywise. In the first film, Ben (Jeremy Ray Taylor) reveals to his fellow "Losers Club" that Derry was originally a beaver trapping camp where all 91 individuals who signed the Derry Township charter disappeared during winter, leaving a trail of clothes leading to the old well house. With Pennywise resurfacing every 27 years, he spends his time tormenting and ruthlessly killing children.
Andy Muschietti, known for directing the 2013 supernatural horror film Tokyo Vice. These four are also executive producers on the series, ing Shelley Meals and original IT producers Roy Lee and Dan Lin.
Welcome to Derry stars Bill Skarsgard in the role of Pennywise. Skarsgard has previously portrayed the character in two previous movies in the franchise. Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Stephen Rider and Madeleine Stowe all star in the series.
