In 1989, Lyle and Erik Menendez were charged with the murder of their wealthy parents, Jose and Kitty. The brothers claimed that the murder was an act of self-defense after years of abuse of all forms. Some claimed however that the brothers, 21 and 18 at the time, killed their parents for the inheritance. Following the murder, the investigation, and the trial, the show brings to life one of the most infamous courtroom cases in American history.
Horrifically disturbing from the first episode to the end
As a huge fan of true crime, this Netflix series was at the top of my personal watch list when it debuted in 2024. For the longest time, I have found the Menendez brothers' case fascinating. While it was brilliantly acted by Cooper Koch and Nicholas Alexander Chavez as the titular siblings, I wasn't prepared for just how disturbing the subject matter would be. Some episodes contain graphic descriptions of the abuse Lyle and Erik (allegedly) suffered at the hands of their father. So anyone tuning in to the nine-episode biographical drama should brace themselves for difficult viewing.
