The Big Bang Theory (2007)

The Big Bang Theory isn’t just hilarious; it also introduced the world to Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), one of the greatest comedy characters ever created. Parsons' comedic performance alone is reason enough to watch the series. He's reminiscent of Urkel in that he's one of those characters who are simultaneously so annoying but so endearing. Meanwhile, The Big Bang Theory as a whole is a refreshing sitcom that mixes real science, social awkwardness, and romance with surprisingly funny results. The character development and friendship also elevate it beyond a typical irreverent comedy.

I didn't expect to love The Big Bang Theory as much as I did. On the surface, it's just a show about nerdy guys and their social misadventures, but it's packed with science jokes and comic book references, which is right up my alley. For me, the real magic is the dynamic between Sheldon and Penny. Every time those two share a scene, it's funny, unpredictable, and occasionally even touching. There's something about their completely opposite worldviews clashing that gives the show its sharpest edge. Whether you're into physics or just want a good comfort watch, The Big Bang Theory delivers.
